An “addictive personality” often is associated with poor self-esteem, trouble relating to people, a low tolerance for frustration, and a desire to escape reality. More and more people are finding help in Idaho through addiction treatment center and programs that are readily available to provide the lasing help that addicts need.
Drug addiction rehabilitation does not equate to just a drug-free life. Drug addiction is an overwhelming psychological desire that feels like a need for drugs. Without the drug, withdrawal symptoms can begin almost immediately, a psychosomatic reaction to being without the drug of choice. Drug addiction is defined as the loss of control over drug use, or the compulsive seeking and taking of drugs despite adverse consequences. It has been estimated that genetic factors contribute to 40% - 60% of the vulnerability to drug addiction, and environmental factors provide the remainder.
Many feel that there is no problem with marijuana but in reality, abuse of marijuana is linked to development of mental illnesses such as schizophrenia. Abuse can sometimes be successfully handled in a community rehab center where the individual is considered at an out-patient and returns home each day. This has limited workability when it comes to full blown addiction.
Rehab facilities may offer short-term or long-term treatments that are either provided through inpatient or outpatient programs. Rehab programs teach life skills that are needed to cope with the after-effects of an addiction to drugs or alcohol.
As the knowledge base on detox and withdrawal grow, several new techniques are offered; specified counseling, focused care, and even cleansing steps help the addict get more from detox and get through it easier. For addicts that have the privilege of being able to attend a treatment program in a rehabilitation centre and/or receive drug addiction counseling, the prognosis of maintaining sobriety is positive. However, an addict can only live a life of recovery if they are willing to help themselves.
A good detox program will provide the addict with advice during the detox and provide help with the physical withdrawal by getting to the root cause of the individuals addiction, ultimately assisting in the decrease of relapses. These programs and many others are becoming increasingly available in many cities around the country.
